Meet Ally - Senior and Photographer from Etowah High School in Woodstock, Ga!

I am happy to formally introduce Ally and

welcome her to the Turning Leaf Photography team!!!

Ally was chosen from over a dozen local 2012 graduating seniors who contacted Turning Leaf Photography to help facilitate their senior year project on photography. Ally's view on life through the lens really caught my attention and she has an awesome personality as I'm sure you will agree!

If you have a photography session with Turning Leaf Photography from October through spring of next year, there is a good chance you will meet Ally in person! She will be helping with many sessions and some behind the scenes work as well while she learns more about photography!

Just to learn a little more about Ally, I asked her a few questions as I wanted to pick her brain and have her share some of her favorite photographs as well! (you know, some of these are very technical questions and can say a lot about a person, like the ice cream question! :))

What is your favorite ice cream?

When I had my wisdom teeth out, I ate all the ice-cream I could without any guilt. During this time I was introduced to Phish Food ice-cream from Ben & Jerry’s (you can never go wrong with them!).

What is your favorite color?

My favorite color at the moment happens to be Mango Tango, it’s also my favorite Crayola Crayon.

If you could goanywhere on vacation where would it be and why?

I could travel anywhere I would visit Europe. I am fascinated by its history, landscape, and landmarks which would all make for some awesome photographs!

Thoreau once said, “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” I think this quotation can be applied to photography in many ways.

I recently went to my cousin’s wedding in Cashiers, North Carolina. It was a gorgeous wedding which made for multiple picture opportunities. Here are some of my favorite pictures from my weekend in North Carolina. To me, they give a sense of the changing of the season and the beauty of nature.

So, maybe you've found this blog by accident or by searching for a senior or teen portrait photographer for your 2012 senior pictures. Maybe you've had your school portraits taken already this summer, maybe not. Maybe you are just researching the cost vs benefit of senior portraits by your school photographer (usually Life Touch, Prestige Portraits or similar subsidiary) vs an outside professional photographer. In either case, jump for JOY! The differences in the workmanship with Turning Leaf Photography are clear in the final product images and complete experience comparable to that school portrait photography company! There simply is not a comparison. Period.

In almost all cases in the Atlanta, Ga area, the schools have your senior portrait locked up for a yearbook picture. That's just the way it is...but that doesn't mean you have to settle for that same school photo for your senior portraits for 2012 OR purchase any of those pictures from the school (though you may like to have a 5x7 for memories sake).

Ask yourself, will those portraits show who you are and where you are going? Will they reflect your true personality? Will you have a great memory from that experience in the gym, cafeteria or library photography set up (don't laugh, I'm being serious!)? Most likely, no. BORING! Just let that picture be in the yearbook for your senior year so everyone can look alike and then call Turning Leaf Photography for a complete customized session that will knock your socks (or flip flops) off!

Year after year, seniors parents call us up and say it cost less for a senior session, including products with Turning Leaf Photography than it does to order their school senior portraits AND graduation announcements from the school! Yes, they add it all up and that's what they say! Who wants boring graduation announcements to send out during the most important time of their life and who wants boring senior pictures hanging on their walls? Why pay their price for sub-par photography, EXTRA retouching and boring portraits?

Yes, you read that right. 4) then....compare Turning Leaf Photography to other photographers in the area (I really mean that). Search for a senior portrait photographer in your city, Ga. There's nothing for us to hide-come on, try it! Check out the quality of their photographs, their website, their reviews and what they offer. Do they offer on-location and in-studio? Keep in mind when searching, there are TONS of photographers flooding the market, all with different levels of photography experience including equipment, services, prices and products. You get what you pay for and most likely a low cost for everything photographer is someone starting out or desperate for work and will not be comparable to Turning Leaf Photography. Also, someone who suggests printing your photos at Costco, Walmart or Walgreens probably isn't a photographer who cares about the quality of their work very much. But see for yourself.

Meet Pamela Wilbur! Pam is just one of Turning Leaf Photography's Senior Model Reps for 2012! She was Ahhh-mazing with her in-studio and on-location portrait sessions! We had a great time in the 96f heat Rockin' out her senior portraits lakeside!

Pam is a 2012 senior at Allatoona High. She will be attending college early with her schools 'Move On When Ready' program and is still considered a senior! For hobbies, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, fishing and being around animals. She is still deciding about her career, but is looking at the field of medicine.

I missed my Senior Portraits! Atlanta Senior Portrait Photography

I'm receiving alot of the same questions lately by seniors and their parents because of missed senior portraits!

Here are a few of the FAQ's.

I MISSED MY SENIOR PORTRAITS!

So, you missed your senior portrait session. Don't sweat it. Sometimes they will reschedule this for seniors who missed out. Your senior pictures for school are not the same as what Turning Leaf Photography offers-they are for the yearbook.

WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY SENIOR PORTRAITS TAKEN?

Since this is not your yearbook photo, there are no formal deadlines and YOU get to decide when you want them done. Even if you had your Senior Portrait taken in your cap and gown, you can have Senior Portraits with Tuning Leaf Photography. Senior Portraits with Turning Leaf Photography can be scheduled anytime you want Senior portraits during your Senior year…just keep the seasons in mind and don’t wait until May {last minute..though do still call me if you wait until then because I still want to take your picture...}!

Sessions are offered all year long which allows for lots of variety! The cost or package may vary by season or availability, so booking as soon as you have an idea of a date you'd like would be a good thing. I accept major credit cards.

DO YOU TAKE THE YEARBOOK PHOTOS WITH THE CAP AND GOWN, ETC?

No. Most schools have commissioned a photographer for the yearbook that you must use so that everyone's image will have the same look in the yearbook. I don’t do the cap and gown gig, however. You must go to the school photographer for your yearbook photo but you are under no obligation to purchase any of them. They are great for the yearbook, but do you really want that same yearbook picture hanging on the wall when you are graduating from college?

Your session with Turning Leaf will reflect who you are and how you want to be seen for your senior year. I call my Senior Portrait Session "Create You"....for a reason.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE MY SESSION?

Contact me by phone or email...you can also text me if you so desire! Eventually we will have to communicate by a phone call, though. Your session fee is due in full after we have a good day and time picked out, this session fee will secure your session at this time.

WHAT DO I WEAR & WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

I have lots of information to share with you about what to wear and what locations you may be interested in once we have a date and session scheduled. Expect to have FUN! Once you have reserved your session, further information will be emailed to you on what to expect from your portrait experience. Of course, you are more than welcome to contact me at any time with any additional questions you may have.

WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE?

This is totally up to YOU! You can select any location within the Metro Atlanta area...some locations may require an additional travel charge…but don’t be afraid to ask me about them because of this! I’m always on the look out for unique locations! I have lots of locations to give you for ideas as well.

The location should be somewhere that totally reflects you, your style and interests. If you have a couple of locations for ideas and they are close by, we may be able to go to both locations!

HOW WILL I SEE MY IMAGES?

You will have a one week online gallery to view and order from. You can even share your images with all of your family and friends via Facebook or other social network sites! Images will be masterfully hand edited and ready for viewing in about two weeks from your session date.

A note about COPYRIGHT

All images created by Turning Leaf Photography are protected by federal copyright laws. It is illegal to scan, download, copy, reprint or reproduce Turning Leaf’s images in any way and doing so can result in large fines. As the artist, it is best if Turning Leaf has complete control over the images created. Turning Leaf takes pride in providing top quality images that you are proud to display and share. Reproducing these images greatly reduces the quality of Turning Leafs work and can damage Turning Leaf’s reputation. Thank you for purchasing all of your prints and reprints directly from Turning Leaf Photography!

Meet Megan~Senior Portrait Rep-Senior Portrait Photography Metro Atlanta Georgia

I had an AWESOME time with Megan at her senior portrait session. Megan enjoys cheerleading and iceskating. We had so much fun with model style poses and had some back up help from her aunt who was a model! Senior Portraits should be fun. Sure, I understand wanting and having a couple of pictures from your school yearbook/graduation picture, but they say who you are? Do they show who you are in your senior year? Absolutely not! So buy a couple of those senior pictures you had done at school or by a photographer with a fake background and the drape, etc and then come to me and have some real portraits taken. I will help you plan the perfect senior portrait session-that screams everything about who you are and your personality will shine through!

Meet Megan~One of my 2010-2011 Senior Portrait Reps. Here's a little sneak-a-peek from a fantastic session this past week. I was only able to get one up for a preview before the holiday weekend, but I wanted to go ahead and share {because I couldn't wait}. I always get soooo excited when it comes to sharing pictures from my sessions!

We really had fun and got some great shots! Megan is a Cheerleader and also loves to Iceskate! I always wanted to be an iceskater when I grew up watching the winter olympics and Dorothy Hammil..lol! But, you know, photography called my name a little louder!

I will have more from Megans session after the holiday weekend, so stay tuned....!!

I hope you find these tips useful! I would say VERY important, is to get plenty of rest. Watching videos and reruns on late night can wreck havoc on your skin! And while I hand-edit each and every photograph you will proof with me, I want you to look your best naturally!
